Social Investor Roundtable of the SPTF Investor Group

Grameen Credit Agricole Foundation in Paris is hosting an interim Social Investor Roundtable of the SPTF investor group on Thursday February 16, 2012.

In between the SPTF annual meetings in Den Bosch and Jordan we propose to take stock of investors’ efforts to integrate client protection and social performance concerns into policies and operations and help change practices on the ground. Specifically we will discuss progress made and some hard nuts that still need cracking,  dealt with by the respective action groups:

  1. reasonable covenants,
  2. collective action against over-indebtedness,
  3. harmonization of due diligence on social performance questions,
  4. implementation of the Principles for Investor in Inclusive Finance

The meeting will be from 9am to 5pm and will conclude with a small reception to celebrate the first anniversary of the Principles for Investors in Inclusive Finance. There will be time foreseen for the action groups to meet separately. 

Two other events are piggy backing on the Social Investor Roundtable. We encourage you to benefit from the Smart training and for DFIs to join the peer to peer exchange:

  • February 15: A Smart Campaign investor training providing a comprehensive introduction to the CPPs and assessment indicators, including an overview of the draft tool for third-party certification of provider compliance with the CPPs (which is now out for public comment). The training will better equip participants to integrate the CPPs into their due diligences. Please contact Charlotte Connors at cconnors@accion.org for more information.
  • February 17: DFI consultation on Responsible Finance hosted by AFD and Proparco and co-organised by CGAP. This third peer to peer exchange among DFIs will offer a structured exchange on DFIs’ experience in implementing responsible finance.
